The handling feels more "sim-cade", as much as I hate to use that phrase. Some stages have narrow sections but none are 100% narrow (I wouldn't even say 50%), and I've had plenty of times where I've made a mistake and had more than enough room while off the road to allow for a creative correction. Why would you expect anything different going into its successor? In addition to that, in the amount of time I've put in the game thus far, sun glare/reflection, wet/rainy stages have been a low minority. Look at it this way though, DiRT Rally was originally intended to be only for those who wanted a difficult racing experience in the first place. I'm not so much an elitist to let this bother me however, while I wanted another hardcore white-knuckled sim exactly like the original DiRT Rally, I have had nothing but an immensely fun time playing this game. I found that the difficulty is completely gone in favor of a more accessible game. Is the game fun for anyone else? Certainly not.Īs a huge fan of the original DiRT Rally - I completely disagree with you, this game feels far too easy by comparison, to the point that it seems more like DiRT 5 than DiRT Rally 2.0. So I am sure the vocal hardcore crowd is very pleased. Rewind option? Are you kidding! Blasphemy if someone could use a rewind option if he wanted to! The game feels like they have taken all the demands of the hardcore racing fans and realized them.ĩ0% of the races in the night or where you have to look into the glaring sunlight - checkġ00% of the races on super narrow roads - checkīecause in reality 90% of the rally stages take place either in the night or exactly at sunrise or sundown, where you'd have to wear sunglasses to be able to drive?Īnd that it is pretty much raining all the time when a WRC Rally takes place?Īnd certainly you also knew that in Spain roads are that narrow, that a car is wider than one lane?Īll things that can be learned from this game. I think it is possible to do a game that caters to both hardcore racing games and more casual racing game players, but this game doesn't even try to do so. The hardcore fans have successfully pushed this game - and worse the whole genre - into a niche and it's no wonder there are hardly any Rally racing games anymore. I do accept that the hardcore sim racing fans also want their Rally game.Īnd at first I was shocked how low the number of tracked gamers, that have this game, is, and I even felt bad for Codemasters.īut after playing it for a while I think the low number of players/buyers is fully deserved.
